Masses of Muslims have literally been hypnotized under the influence of the dajjal (antichrist). They convinced them [Muslims] he [Hazrat Mahdi (as)] would be a collective personality. They look people straight in the eye and lie to them. And their consciences are not in the least bit troubled. And people who see that dishonesty are weakened in faith. Because dishonest people have a greater impact that irreligious ones when it comes to turning people toward irreligion. For example, they do not believe in angels and try to explain them away. They say that angels are a kind of energy. If they say that we give the name angel to positive energy, people will at once understand that. They will immediately realize that something plot is going on and that dishonesty is in the air. And this has a greater effect of hypocrisy than that of irreligion. The person may not be a hypocrite, but it has a hugely damaging effect on him. That damage is very serious in people whose faith is weak. For example, when there is talk of a collective personality, young people immediately realize there is trickery going on. They see that when people say things should not be mentioned, the plot, lie is protected even more in order to prevent it coming out. Because what does it mean not to speak of this subject? If you insist on this lie, it will eventually come out. That is why they say that people should not talk about it or let people who do talk about it into their homes or have anything to do with them. It means the continuation of the current system. In order for the system to be maintained, the lie must not come out. And in order for the lie not to come out, the subject must not be discussed or analyzed. The fact is there is nothing to discuss. But it is very clear. I advise our brothers who really want Islam to approach these matters very honestly. They must not be influenced by those who are dishonest. Of course, my words are not addressed to those who act in this way out of ignorance.
Union must have a leader. It is not honest for someone not to speak of a union having a leader or of the kind of union it will be. Our Prophet (saas) has said that the union will have a leader and what the union will be like. Some people say: “No. We do not believe in anything to do with the model of unity, the style or the method in the historical developments that our Prophet (saas) speaks of.” They say: “I will establish unity with a collective personality in the manner I think fit and I will build a system accordingly.” But those who talk about a collective personality actually know that nothing will come of a collective personality. With the kind of collective personality these people are thinking of, their wives will be chopping tomatoes up in the kitchen while they do the onions and their children run around playing catch. There will be no problems in such a system. But they also know that Islam will not rule under such a system, and that there will be no Islamic Union. Everybody knows. A collective personality provides psychological satisfaction. Do you want Islam?, they ask. The other person says yes. Do you want the Mahdi (as)?, they ask. He says yes. What kind of Mahdi (as)? A collective personality. That is fine. But they know there can be no Islamic Union under such a system. So they are perfectly content. The whole question is one of passing over things. They have found the best way of passing over it. The most devilish and cunning way. They have been distracting Muslims in this way for the last 150 years. Muslims are being persecuted everywhere. But they sit sipping their tea and watching events in Libya unfold on the television. Satan has really tricked some Muslims. That is why our brothers must be on their guard. Bediuzzaman’s statements are quite explicit. Hazrat Mahdi (as) is a person, and he has followers. He [Bediuzzaman] also gave a date and a time. He explicitly said he [Hazrat Mahdi (as)] will discharge three duties at the same time. Honest Muslims have been immobilized by dishonest people. Frauds watch out for one another. They recognize one another as soon as they look at them. If someone really expects Hazrat Mahdi (as) as Hazrat Mahdi (as) should be, they say, look, we have got our marriages to think about, and bills to pay and money to worry about, and this could all be a problem. They say the established system could be demolished. They wonder what will happen to the spiritual leader they already have. That sheikh will of course follow Hazrat Mahdi (as). They worry that the way they look at him might change, that their happy days might come to an end. So what do they do? They establish a system such that nobody can object to them. A system that does not give the impression they do not abide by the faith and that gives the impression they are full of fear of Allah and abide by the faith very closely, but under which people do not actually abide by the faith at all. I have been working for months. I have slowly begun unraveling it. It has taken a long, long time to bring down the devilish system they have erected. But these people I am talking about are only 4 or 5 in number, and the great majority of our brothers are quite immaculate, insha’Allah.
Your Lord would never have destroyed the cities wrongfully as long as their inhabitants were putting things right. (Surah Hud, 117)
What does putting things right mean? When there are people leading others to the true path, correcting their mistakes, warning against errors and describing what is good and right. When the followers of the Mahdi are at work. Allah does not say He will send a terrible earthquake and catastrophe. He says He will not send a catastrophe. When people are doing these things. He says, “There will be no destruction anywhere in which there are followers of the Mahdi.” He says He will not do such a thing. Allah gives a guarantee in the Qur’an. That is why I say that Hazrat Mahdi (as) is in Istanbul now. There will be no catastrophe that destroys Istanbul. You will see that there will not be. They have realized that what I say is true.
